Vallee blanche skiing
Departing from the Aiguille du Midi cable-car – at over 3800 meters above sea level – the Vallée Blanche is the mythical off-piste skiing itinerary of the French Alps at the heart of outstanding glacial landscapes. It is a not to be missed alpine adventure for people visiting Chamonix Mont Blanc for ski-holidays.
During the winter season, the Aiguille du Midi cable car allows an easy access to several not groomed descents giving you the chance to discover the glacial universe of the high altitude terrain. For over 20 kilometres and 2000 meters of elevation gain, our Mountain Guides will take you on the glaciers among bowls, seracs and crevasses, at the foot of the mythical peaks and summits of the Mont Blanc Massif. During your descent, enjoy a lunch break at the Requin hut, boasting a breathtaking view on the serac fall of the Glacier du Géant. Then, hit the slopes onto the Mer de Glace while having a panoramic view on the Aiguilles de Chamonix.
According to snow conditions, the descent to Chamonix can either be by ski through the Mottets chalet, or by ski lift and the Montenvers train. In order to ski the Vallée Blanche at ease, a black piste skiing level is required and a previous experience in powder skiing and deep-snow turns is possibly needed. The Vallee Blanche also offers a unique playground in the Alps to go ski touring in a picturesque environment. Ask your mountain guide if you wish to go for an introduction to ski touring during your skiing holidays.
