Rock climbing & Co
The Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix offers a wide range of climbing adventure for both beginners and experienced climbers: rock climbing, adventure park, and via ferrata.
The Chamonix Valley provides an incredible setting for rock climbing. The Gaillands climbing school, closed to the town centre is the main rock climbing crag. It is especially suitable for families and kids climbing. With over 150 pitches it includes all the types of climbing: slab, crack, overhang, chimney and slab. It is an ideal place to begin top rope climbing or improve your lead climbing skills with safety as a priority. Our mountain guides and climbing instructors are there to help you every step of the way. They will teach you about essential climbing gear, such as: carabiner, belay device, harnesses, quickdraw, rope, sling and knots. You will also learn crucial roping techniques like belaying and rappelling, ensuring you are well-prepared to lead your first ascent to the top. Right next to the climbing area, the adventure park offers long zip lines with breathtaking views of the Mont-Blanc Massif, making it a thrilling addition to your alpine climbing adventures.
Chamonix is renowned for its high-altitude climbing routes, offering a paradise for sport climbers in the Alps. Enjoy multi-pitch routes with bolts or asking for cams & stoppers and advanced rock climbing skills including all the hands and feet jamming techniques for crack climbing. Some destinations like Les Chéserys and the peaks accessible from the Flégère cable car are not to be missed. The iconic Aiguilles de Chamonix attract climbers from around the world seeking challenging crack climbs on exceptional granite quality. Whether you are a novice looking to get started in climbing on bolted crags or an experienced climber seeking trad climbing adventures, the Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix organises climbing courses or climbing classes. Learn to climb, get the basic climbing techniques and develop your climbing ability to become a proper mountaineer.
