We have organised a range of events up to the end of 2021 to celebrate our 200th anniversary. Through these events we would like to tell you our story and share some unforgettable experiences.

August 2020: Guides’ festival.
The ‘Caisse de Secours’, the Compagnie’s welfare fund, was born 200 years ago. In recognition of this historic bicentenary, the Compagnie des Guides is celebrating the 70th anniversary of the first ascent of Annapurna (8091m). This week of musical and audiovisual festivities will take place in the different villages of the Chamonix valley. Run in association with the ‘Guitare en scène’ festival, this year’s Fêtes des Guides will certainly be one to remember!
November 2020: Lyon Salon de l’escalade (Lyon rock climbing fair).
Friday 20 to Sunday 22 November 2020, the Compagnie des Guides will be taking part in exchanges and activities about all things mountain-related. Whether you are a novice climber or experienced mountaineer, or are just simply curious, come and meet and chat with different people from the field. Exhibitors will be presenting their latest innovations and there will be a range of different events throughout what looks like being an epic weekend.

February 2021: Winter Cham Friends Festival 2021.
Film festival: Join us as we share the exploits and experiences of the members and friends of the Compagnie des Guides, as well as the opportunity to give voice to our passion right here in Chamonix.
July 2021: The largest climbing team in the world.
200 people for 200 years of the Compagnie des Guides will rope up together at an altitude of over 3000m, between the Aiguille du Midi and Pointe Helbronner. This huge climbing team will celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Compagnie des Guides and the values of the guiding profession. The performance will be broadcast in the Chamonix valley on a big screen and reproduced by actors and local associations in the town’s streets.
August 2021: Fêtes des Guides marking the 200th anniversary of the Chamonix Compagnie des Guides.
We have a number of surprises and exclusive events in store for this historic guides’ festival, most notably the advance screening of the film celebrating our 200-year history.
September 2021: From Mont-Blanc to the Eiffel Tower.
This walk is to demonstrate our values and commitments to the future of our profession and the environment in which we work. We start on the highest peak in France, Mont Blanc, and head for the highest monument in France, the Eiffel Tower. Powered by non-fossil fuel energy, the march will carry the vision of 200 years of the Compagnie des Guides.
