Starting from Montenvers (1 913 m) - that you will reach by railway - our snowshoeing excursion on the Mer de Glace will take you to the enchanting world of glaciers. Rope up with your guide and visit the glacial rills and holes, which channel the surface water during the summer. In the distance, you will also see the impressing stone falls in the moraines, tangible consequence of the melting of glaciers caused by global warming in the Alps. At the foot of the Drus, enjoy a stunning panorama on the summits of the Mer de Glace. You can also visit the famous ice cave and admire its peculiar colour.
Our snowshoeing excursion on the Mer de Glace does not have any technical difficulty. You will reach the glacier by the Montenevers cable car, through an equipped itinerary. This excursion is for hikers wishing to discover the world of glaciers and does not require any experience in mountaineering. For a high mountain discovery, you can also choose our snowshoe hike in the Vallee Blanche from the Pointe Helbronner.
