The Cosmiques arete is without a doubt the most famous ridge route of the Mont Blanc Massif! Quickly accessible by the Aiguille du Midi cable car, it offers a fun and varied ascent in a majestic setting. The view of the surrounding peaks including the Mont Blanc and the Mont Blanc du Tacul is breathtaking. After a quick glacier hike along the Aiguille du Midi ridge, our route starts next to the Cosmiques hut (3613m). This route is a combination of rocky terrain, abseils and short climbing sections including the famous 5 meters crack on a smooth wall.
This route is the not-to-missed climb for anyone looking for a mountaineering adventure in the Mont Blanc Massif. Depending on the snow conditions, crampons may be required. The celebrated Cosmiques ridge arrives, after an unusual passage at the end, on the southern terrace of the Aiguille du Midi. The Cosmiques arete is aimed at people wanting to discover a mixed ridge route and requires previous experience with crampons.
